The panel of Suzanne Bianchi (Sociology), Narayan Sastry (Public Health), Jennie Brand (Sociology), and David Rigby (Geography) will discuss common and uncommon uses of key data frequently used in demographic research, and some issues facing scholars accessing sensitive data. Specifically, Panel Study of Income Dynamics (PSID), National Longitudinal Survey of Youth (NLSY79 & NLSY97), Los Angeles Family and Neighborhood Study (LAFANS), Wisconsin Longitudinal Study (WLS) and U.S. Census data, including the Longitudinal Employer Household Dynamics (LEHD), access through Research Data Centers (RDC) will be discussed.
