INVITES VISITING SCHOLAR APPLICATIONS FOR TWO PROGRAMS IN 2015–2016
The application deadline for both programs is May 15, 2015.
POVERTY RESEARCHERS FROM UNDERREPRESENTED GROUPS
The Institute for Research on Poverty (IRP) invites applications from U.S.-based social science scholars from
underrepresented racial and ethnic groups to visit IRP, interact with its faculty in residence, and become acquainted
with the staff and resources of the Institute. The invitation extends (but is not restricted) to those who are in the early
years of their academic careers.
Visits of one to two weeks by a few scholars can be supported during either the fall or spring semester of the academic
year 2015 to 2016. The scholars will be invited to give a seminar, work on their own projects, and confer with an IRP
faculty mentor, who will arrange for interchange with other IRP affiliates. Transportation, lodging, and meal expenses
will be covered by IRP.
Interested scholars should submit the following materials (electronic submissions of one PDF file comprising all of the
following five elements are preferred): (1) a letter describing their poverty research interests and experience; (2) the
proposed dates for a visit; (3) a current curriculum vitae; (4) two examples of written material; and (5) an estimate of

scholars. Applications must be received by May 15, 2015. Applicants will be notified of their status by June 19.
FOOD ASSISTANCE RESEARCHERS
The Institute for Research on Poverty (IRP) invites applications from U.S.-based food assistance scholars to visit the IRP
RIDGE Center for National Food and Nutrition Assistance Research for one week during the 2015 to 2016 academic year,
interact with its faculty in residence, and become acquainted with the staff and resources of the Institute.
Visits of one week can be supported during either fall or spring semester. Visitors will be invited to give a seminar, work
on their own projects, and confer with IRP faculty affiliates. Transportation, lodging, and meal expenses will be covered
by IRP and its RIDGE Program partner, the Economic Research Service of the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture.
