Prof. Chandra Ford selected for the Kaiser Permanente Burch Minority Leadership Development Program

Chandra Ford, assistant professor of community health sciences at the UCLA Fielding School of Public Health, was recently selected by the Institute for Alternative Futures as one of six awardees of the Kaiser Permanente Burch Minority Leadership Development Program. The program provides a two-year health policy leadership development award.
Ford plans to complete a study on barriers to services among lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) survivors of intimate partner violence and to strategically bolster the network of policymakers, health policy experts and advocates with whom she works with to raise awareness about this issue and help remedy it.
Ford has dedicated her career to promoting diversity and addressing the social determinants of health disparities. Her areas of expertise encompass the social determinants of HIV/AIDS disparities, Critical Race Theory and health disparities affecting sexual minority populations, which include LGBT persons.
